When clients wish to remove a fear or phobia they are often worried that their inability to control themselves in the face of a spider, a holiday flight, needle or social situation such as speaking in public, job interview, driving test etc must mean that they are lacking in some way. This can often trigger feelings of low self esteem. You are not losing your mind but have created a mechanism to protect yourself from what your mind perceives as frightening as a result of a bad experience or it could have been a learned response. As an experienced therapist with a wide range of techniques such as hypnosis, NLP, EMDR, EFT & CBT your mind can be corrected quickly and painlessly usually in as little as two or three sessions.

Removing Fears & Phobias in Andover & Romsey

Success in removing your fear doesn’t involve you having to face plastic spiders and snakes either, neither is it relevant how long you’ve had your fear or phobia for.

These fears and phobias have been created by you and now sit hardwired in your subconscious mind to protect you from having to revisit that initial experience or learning; it’s estimated that 30% of phobias are a learned response as was the case for this Andover resident.

She sought help for a needle phobia because she could no longer put off vital dental treatment. She was amazed to find out it originated when she was only 4 years old. A friend of her mother had just come out of hospital and my client overheard her recounting all the details in full technicolour glory....or should I say gory!  Her 4 year old imagination went into overdrive on hearing comments such as “he cut me open and I’ve got a really big hole there now” “it really hurt and I wouldn’t do that again “. Using hypnosis and NLP this subconscious memory was accessed and new information added to update and correct her thoughts and feelings so she could visit the dentist rather than avoid it. Although seeing the dentist was her immediate concern in fact her fear had generalised into a phobia of doctors, nurses and hospitals. All of which I corrected and were summed up in the last sentence of her email “I can definitely say you changed my life”. You could say she got four treatments for the price of one!

A phobia of thunderstorms was removed using similar techniques to the Andover resident. This lady from Romsey had learnt her fear from watching her mother panic during a storm. As Romsey isn’t exactly blessed with all year sunshine this lady had set herself quite a restriction on when she felt ok to go out. She was so terrified she had to ask others to pick the children up from school. Months later she emailed me “since I came to you I am no longer afraid of thunderstorms, something I really can't thank you enough for” “there was a really bad thunderstorm last December at school pick up time” “I have never seen anything like it in this country” “Before coming to you I would have been in a terrible state but even though the thunder made me really jump I was fine”. For our survival we all have two inbuilt fears in common – that of falling and loud noises - which makes sense don’t you think?
